"Chose a date" dialog
Chose a date dialog box can be opened with item "View>for a Date" of the main menu at the top of the main window.
To select active day i.e. the day, for which you will input spent hours, click drop-down arrow next to the date. The month calendar appears.
. Select the desired date. If the date that you would like to select is not visible, click on the left or right arrow at the top of month calendar to change the month.
You can also directly type a new date in the date window not opening month calendar with drop-down arrow. To do so, click on month, day or year in date window and overwrite them (type new one). Such an approach allows quick jumping several months or years back or forth. If you type the new approximate date and then click drop-down arrow you will open month calendar for just entered new date and then can select the desired exact date.
After the desired date selection click OK button.
If you click Cancel button the dialog will be closed without the active day changing. Clicking Help button will open this help.
It would be tedious, ridiculous and useless to remember exact time that you spend for an activity in the distant past. People gradually forget the past and even our bodies to some extent in a way forget it in respect to physical exercises, for instance. There are several features of the program that takes into account this fact.
- The program gradually forget how much time you spent in a day as the day moves to the past in the sense that the deeper in the past the day is the less influence it has on the priority. The influence of the past week is about two times less than present one and so on. It makes programs tolerant to small errors in entered time. The more distant is day of the time to enter the less is the error influence. Therefore it possible to enter spent time only approximately: the deeper is the past the less accurate you may be.
- The exact day of the input does not matter much also. Actually in the limits of one week (a weeks in the program begins from Sunday) there are no difference at which day you will input the spent time.
- In accordance with the fact that we usually do not remember the exact day of an event after several weeks have passed, about six weeks from the current time the program begins to work with a week as the smallest time part interval. Accordingly toolbar buttons
and
change for
and
. You still can enter the spent time for a week as a whole.
- In the limits of a week you can always enter spent time for several days at once. You can use sums to facilitate the task. For example if you spent 5 hours for an activity yesterday, 4 today and forgot to input spent time yesterday you can type 5 + 4 in "Hours spent for..." column for this activity e.g. for today active day. It could be of course a bit confusing if you forget what you have done, but for distant past when program works with the weeks and not the days it is safe.
