Quick Start for Registered Copy of Activities and Priorities (AAP)
Please read first "First Start" if you have not done it before, where more details, illustration and explanation are given.
To quickly start using the registered copy of AAP, follow these steps:
- Open the File menu and choose Open a Sample. Input or Choice of A&P Data File Name dialog box appears. It is actually common Open File dialog box that you are probably well familiar with.
- Select regular.aap or Wellness.aap and click Open. Regular or wellness sample opens. Note that you may open theses samples only in the registered AAP version. If you would like to see just the image of the wellness sample, click here.
- Save the opened sample with menu File>Save As. You can use the default directory (folder) to save (it is different from Sample directory). You should save opened sample because as distinct from ordinary AAP work, samples are not saved automatically on exit. Saving a sample with Save As converts it to ordinary AAP file.
- If necessary, rename activities or divisions and change their time parts. You can also add new activities or divisions and delete those that you do not need. See how -to list for additional actions that you can perform. Do not create too many activities. Remember that an activity is a basic and important part of your life that you should always remember of. Since, as experiments show, people in general cannot keep in mind more than 7 to 10 things simultaneously we believe that in general it is better to have the number of activities in this limits.
It is true that in the typical wellness program there are 16 activities (wellness dimensions). However, AAP shows you activities with the highest priorities at the top of the Priorities of Activities panel so you always may keep in mind only few activities with the highest priorities. Nevertheless, try to exclude the activities that are part of your occupation, your favorite activities that you never forget and always do in the real life and the activities that are controlled by others. For example, if you have to be in the office all eight hours a day, you may exclude "Work", if the sport is your occupation, you might be able exclude the aerobics and/or jogging etc.
We believe that you are able to compose your set of the most important activities yourself using, if needed, free Dynamic Time Management Guide and the links in the Wellness Exercise Program page. However, if you prefer, for additional charge we may help you to figure out your personal set of the most important activities or wellness dimensions. Use the support page to request the customization.
- Start input spent time for activities. Try to do it every day. There is no need to be too precise and remember exact time. AAP is tolerant to small errors in input time.
- Look at Priority Panel to decide, which of the activities deserves your special attention and what should you do first.
- You might find useful to study the tutor.
- You might find useful to look in glossary occasionally where terms used in AAP are explained.
