Let us assume that we would like to balance the following three activities that are present in the life of most of us: Relationships (between us and other people), Work and Health (all that strengthen our health).
For the education reason we prefer to start with empty Input Panel. To do so, start Activities and Priorities. Activity View appears.
From menu File at the top of the window select Open... or New... item. You can also press ctrl+O instead. Input or Choice of A&P Data File Name dialog box appears. It is actually regular Open File Dialog that you are most probably well familiar with.
Type the name of the new file (that has not existed). We suggest that you type simple.aap (or just simple because aap will be added automatically). You can of course type any other name instead simple, especially if you already have a file with this name but we will use simple as the name of your data file throughout this tutorial. To create empty input panel it is important however that you type the name of the file that have not existed before. Click Open. Empty Activity View appears.
Click somewhere in the empty space under heading Activity. The rectangular cursor appears. It should look similar to the image (the fragment of Input Panel). Type Relationships and press Enter key. The fragment of Input Panel should now looks like
. Do not put attention to the date at the last column for a while. In your computer it will be different and correspond to today or yesterday. We discuss it in more details later.
Move the rectangular cursor below Relationships. It can be done either clicking beneath Relationships in the same column (Activity) or with the down arrow key: . Then type Work and press Enter key. Repeat this procedure for Health activity. Now you have inserted all three activities and the fragment of Input Panel should looks like
. Note that activities were automatically rearranged by AAP to be in the alphabetical order.
You have inserted all the three activities. In the next lesson we will discuss how to set the time parts for them.
