Let us assume that you have already downloaded Activities and Priorities and installed it. If you allow it AAP starts automatically at MS Windows startup.
In the sample image above you see the main screen of AAP. You enter the time you spent on an activity in the column "Hours spent in". There is no need to make the special effort to remember the amount of time spent. The natural precision, with which you remember the time spent for your activities or wellness dimensions is enough. AAP forgives and forgets the small errors.
Notice that in the image above (the top left of the panel) the "Active Day" is Tuesday and "Today" is Wednesday. It is so preset for those who prefer to enter the time spent on activities in the morning of the next day. If you prefer to enter the time in the evening of the same day, you may easily change the setting in the AAP options.
After you have entered the time, you usually look at the "Priorities of Activities" panel (right panel) where you find your activities arranged according to their priorities. Here you can easily see which activities have higher priorities (they are at the top). In the sample image above the highest priority has the jogging and the orange color indicates that it is significantly neglected. You could look at the Activity Item Info dialog - which has statistics, memos, and other relevant information about the activity - to find out why the jogging is so neglected. However, you usually know the reason. Therefore, you simply are trying to include the jogging into your schedule - at the expense of other less neglected activities, if necessary. You then continue to prepare your schedule for today in accordance with the priorities listed in the "Priorities of Activities" panel.
Note that you need not strictly follow the order of the priorities in the white zone. All the activities in the white zone had enough of your time in the past and the difference between them is in the limits of the natural deviation (fluctuations). Therefore you are free to include those activities from the white zone that are most convenient for today. Only the "orange" jogging deserves the special treating and attention. It makes you flexible.
Because of the AAP, you will rarely need preparing the detailed schedule several days in advance and therefore rarely need spending your precious time for the schedule rearranging if something unexpected happens. Moreover, because of AAP you have several activities to select from the white zone and may smoothly adjust your plans to new and unexpected events.
This is typical everyday AAP usage. You see how quick and easy it is. But is it useful? Well, the answer is a resounding "Yes!" In my case it saved me from stress when I had many simultaneous activities. It helped me balance my life. Activities or the wellness dimensions are important parts of our life like work, health, and relationships. If you don't spend enough time on certain activities or don't do it regularly enough, it can be disastrous and ruin your life. AAP is designed to prevent such a situation and help you to keep the proper proportion between your activities. I believe that with AAP your life gradually becomes happy and successful. So download it and enjoy!
