Pop-up window with calendar and analog clock appears only when you point to taskbar clock at the bottom-right corner. Therefore, it does not clutter your screen. Nevertheless you may click it (e.g. to use the calendar) or reach when taskbar is hidden. So it is rather a virtual desktop than pop-up. The height of the pop-up window automatically adjusts itself to the number of the events in it.
